Advertise on Pennsylvania Oddities!

Think online advertising is a poor way to reach your target audience? You're probably right. You may plunk down $200-$300 for a simple ad on Twitter or Facebook, only to have it seen (or not seen) by a few hundred users who live a thousand miles away. Great if you have an online business... not so great if you have a pizzeria or a barbershop (last I checked, no one is driving from Seattle to Scranton for a haircut).

And forget about newspapers. The circulation of a local newspaper these days is worse than that of a diabetic with peripheral artery disease. Radio? Television? Sure, that's great-- if you've got money to burn and none of your potential customers have ever heard of Pandora or Netflix.

How about a ridiculously affordable way to reach people who live in the same town in which your business is located?

If that sounds appealing to you, then keep reading.

Established in 2013, Pennsylvania Oddities has seen a steady rate of growth, presently averaging over 300,000 visitors per month. What makes Pennsylvania Oddities unique is that 90% of my visitors are Pennsylvanians, just like you, who come to the site to read about the strange histories of their hometowns.

Consistent growth since 2013

Here's a mind-blowing fact: In most cases, the number of pageviews per article on this site far exceeds the number of people who actually live there! Take the following statistics for articles on Northumberland County, for instance.

As you can see, a 2016 article about Mount Carmel has already racked up 29,010 page views-- even though the borough's population is a mere 5,677. My 2013 article on Marion Heights (population: 611) has garnered 19,867 views (that's more than 3,151% of the entire population, for all you math nerds out there). A popular article on Kulpmont (population: 2,827) from 2015 has racked up 14,406 views.

Now imagine if you owned a small business in Mount Carmel, Shamokin, Gowen City, Natalie or Kulpmont and had spent a measly $20 advertising on this site. Count up the number of local residents who would have seen your ad, and you can see why no other medium can offer more bang for the buck than Pennsylvania Oddities.

And with over 400 posts and counting, Pennsylvania Oddities spans the entire commonwealth, from Erie to Philadelphia-- To date, 51 of our state's 67 counties are represented on this site.

The Unbeatable Benefits of Advertising on PA Oddities

-One flat rate guarantees that your non-clickable JPG, GIF or PNG ad gets seen all the time, every time, by readers (none of that complicated cost-per-click nonsense).

-No rotating ads. A reader can refresh their browser 100 times, and they will see your ad 100 times.

-Ads will be prominently featured in the body of articles that have been written about the town where your business is located, or close to it.

-No contracts to sign or packages to purchase. You ad will remain live for 6 months, and possibly longer if I forget to delete it (and I probably will... hey, I'm a busy guy).

The Unbeatable Rates

$20.00-- Your non-clickable JPG, GIF or PNG ad will be displayed in the body of one PA Oddities article for six months. $10.00 for each additional ad*.

$10.00-- Sponsored Post. Your text-only ad, with hyperlink to your website, will appear at the bottom of one PA Oddities article as a byline for six months*. (For example: This content sponsored by Bob's Taxidermy Studio and Beer Warehouse, 333 Main St., Anytown, PA. "Have a beer while we stuff your deer!")

*PayPal payments strongly preferred.

Why have I decided to sell ad space? Well, unless you're a teenage girl posting makeup tutorial vids on YouTube or running a  mommy blog about yoga and gourmet cupcakes, there's not much money to be made these days online. History is my passion, but being a historian is an expensive hobby... monthly subscriptions to various online newspaper archives and genealogical websites, scouring antique shops for rare out-of-print books on local history, downloading e-books, etc. Your financial support will help expand my access to resources so that I can continue to create unique, intriguing, original content about the Keystone State.
