The Undertaker's Ghost Story

Otto Station |
The village of Otto in Northumberland County is named for Johann Henrich Otto, a German immigrant who arrived in colonial America in 1763 and later settled along Mahanoy Creek in the late 18th century. A celebrated fraktur artist, Otto's work can be found in museums ranging from the Franklin & Marshall College art museum to the world-famous Metropolitan Museum of Art.
By the early 20th century, the village of Otto was best known as a stop along the Philadelphia & Reading Railroad (the Otto Station, shown above, has long since been torn down). During this time, the family of Simon Fisher witnessed not one, but two inexplicable paranormal events, as described in the following article from the Sept. 24, 1903 edition of the Bloomsburg Columbian.
