Amputated Leg Left on a Train

 

The above article, from the October 13, 1906 edition of the Shenandoah Weekly Herald, raises more questions than it answers. What they did with the leg? Did they bury it with the rest of his remains? Did they incinerate it in a furnace? Or did they just throw it in the trash?
