A Strange Experience on the Lehigh Valley Railroad

In the spring of 1893, an engineer saw a man step in front of a train near the Lackwanna River bridge in Duryea (then known as Coxton), but when the train was stopped and several workers, armed with lanterns, went looking for the remains of the mysterious man, they were astonished to find that he had somehow vanished into thin air. The uncanny story below appeared in the Wilkes-Barre News on April 12, 1893.
