No visit to Rickett's Glen State Park would be complete without a trip to Ganoga Lake, from which streams Kitchen Creek, the source of the park's world-famous waterfalls. Until 1881 the lake was known as Highland Lake, and was a popular fishing and vacation destination. In 1895, however, Highland Lake was the scene of an unsolved mystery that ultimately led to three bodies being dragged from the water.
It is believed that the three men died after a disagreement turned violent and their boat overturned. But who knows for sure?
